Junior High School

Items students will carry throughout the day:
  • 6 spiral-bound single-subject notebooks
  • 1 composition notebook for Language Arts
  • 1 three-ring binder with 8 folders or pocketed dividers
  • Spanish-English dictionary (new or used)
  • Highlighter(s)
  • Standard scientific calculator (for students taking Pre-Algebra or Junior High Math) or Graphing Calculator TI 83+ (for students taking Accelerated Pre-Algebra or Algebra I)

Note: This graphing calculator typically costs $100-120 and can be purchased at Staples, Best Buy, Target, etc. Often a manufacturer’s rebate is available on the TI 83+ during “back to school” time, but if you wait to purchase the calculator, it may not be available, as they may sell out.  It is important that students have the TI 83+ or the TI 84+, or the TI-Nspire, not the regular TI 83, the TI-Nspire CAS, or any lesser model. This is an investment, but as long as your child takes care of his/her TI 83+, he/she will use it throughout his/her high school career and into college.  It can also be used on ACT tests.

  • USB thumb drive

Note: This is an optional item but is very handy for transporting files from school to home. It can be purchased for as little as $5 from a store like Target. One that can be attached to a key ring or backpack may work best to prevent it from getting lost.  Please write the student's name on the USB drive so that it can be returned to them if it is left in the computer.
