    After School Child Care Assistant

    Grand Traverse Academy has an opening for an After School Childcare Assistant for the 2022-23 school year. Hours are 3:00-6:00 pm Monday-Thursday and 11:00 am-6:00 pm Friday during the school year.

    Primary responsibilities are as follows:

    • Provides childcare support services

    • Works with activities for students ages 3-12

    • Takes attendance and keeps track of students

    • Addresses behavior management for students and informs manager when needed

    • Actively supervises outdoor recess/classroom activities/gym to ensure student safety

    • Administers first aid and completes necessary incident report forms

    Qualifications:

    • High school graduate (18+ years of age) with prior experience working/interacting with children.

    • Ability to provide safe and stimulating environment for large groups of children.

    • Possess current adult, infant/child CPR and First Aid certification, or willing to obtain.

    • A Tuberculosis Test Report showing evidence that staff member is free from communicable tuberculosis and is verified within 1 year before employment.

    • Must complete 16.0 clock hours of professional development training per calendar year.

    Special Education Teacher, Grades K-12

    Job Summary: Demonstrate the mission of Grand Traverse Academy (that all students are safe, loved and learning as they achieve excellence in character and academics) by supporting student access to grade level curriculum as well as collaborating with a variety of professional staff members and parents. Under the direction of the appropriate principal and special education coordinator, the licensed special education teacher develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities, evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives, follows state-mandated due process, and functions as IEP manager to assigned students.

    Qualifications:

    • Hold a Bachelor's degree, minimum

    • Possess the appropriate Michigan Teaching Certification for the position

    • Have knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of special education and specialty areas and be familiar with the principles and methodology of effectively teaching students with disabilities

    • Have knowledge of school rules, regulations and procedures and the ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior

    • Have a passion for building relationships with students and their families

    • Be enthusiastic about the content area
