School Uniform Policy

Students and staff at Grand Traverse Academy wear uniforms daily.  We have chosen uniforms because they:

  • allow students and adults to focus on learning

  • help eliminate judgement based on attire

  • improve the safety and security of the school

  • improve behavior and discipline in the school

  • help develop a sense of unity

  • ensure that inappropriate clothing will not be worn to school

Weather-Related Closings Policy

Grand Traverse Academy follows the decisions of the Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) on weather-related closings and will close school (including Mighty Mustangs Preschool and Quality Care) when TCAPS closes.  When school is closed due to weather, elementary and junior high extra-curricular activities will be cancelled and decisions about any scheduled high school events will be made and communicated by 12:00 noon.

Parents will be notified via email and voicemail messages prior to 6:00 am when possible, and information will be posted on the GTA website and Facebook page.  School closings are also announced on local television and radio stations.

Title IX Policy and Training

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a law that protects individuals from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities.  Attached below are Grand Traverse Academy's board-approved Title IX policy and compliance training materials.
